Welcome to the Helen Flavel Foundation & Peduli Sesama Helen Flavel Foundation

We have been able to give 600 students a sponsorship since forming the Helen Flavel Foundation in March 2004. Education would be a gift that would last them a lifetime and help them throughout their lives. That the sponsorships concentrate on children who have parents who struggle literally to put rice and vegetables on the table each day.

We take an holistic view and help the entire family where possible, with housing, bedding, medical support and small business loans.

The photo on the right is of the boarders going for a meal, the photo on the left is of our team at the Helen Flavel Foundation Learning Centre situated at Sambangan, Singaraja, Bali. Please visit our Gallery to see many more images of the Centre.

The Helen Flavel Foundation Inc. guarantees that no more than 15 cents of every sponsored or donated dollar will be used in the receipted operating costs of the Foundation and its administration. The 15 cents will not be used to pay any wages or personal benefits of any kind.
Every dollar received is spent in an identified area of need, and those providing funds to the foundation receive details of how their donations have been expended. Unfortunately donations of any kind made to our foundation are not tax deductable.

My grateful thanks to Penwebs, for the website and Kristy Baldock, Graphic Designer, for their valuable time and expertise, which they have donated to make this site possible.

Bali Street Dogs

Bali Dogs ...... homeless, hungry and hurt are left to fend for themselves and roam freely on the streets and beaches, around restaurants and in tourist areas. Their large numbers and extremely bad living conditions can create unpleasant environments for everyone, especially the dogs. These beautiful dogs are suffering. Education for the World

Education for the World, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization based in California, which provides college scholarship money for women around the world, especially those with financial or other life challenges. Our current focus is in Bali, Indonesia. In 2006, the original concept for Education for the World was formulated. While vacationing in Bali that year, the founder, Michael Ballinger, decided to use his own money to enroll the first two students.
By 2007, Education for the World was officially incorporated and received tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service. To this point, the organization has sponsored nine college students. Full sponsorship includes paying for tuition, for school supplies, such as a laptop, and providing a small monthly stipend, which allows students to spend more time studying, instead of working.
We believe that education is the gateway to wider opportunities and also to a higher standard of living. It is our hope that the initial effort becomes a self-sustaining process in which those helped go on to help others--making the world a better place, one student at a time.
